This is to appease the bear in my household and because it also deserves it's own thread.
I have not read any non-Asimov Foundation books, as a gift about ten years ago my best buddy in college gave me a signed box set of Foundation that I consider one of the few irreplaceable possessions I have. You said one was written by Greg Bear...I enjoyed Moving Mars so maybe I will give it a try.
An interesting series of sci-fi books is the Well World series by Jack L Chalker. The premise is that their is this supreme race of aliens and they built a world cut into hexagons and put each alien race in each with the upper hemisphere being oxygen breathers and the lower being everything else. The biggest thing though is that each hex was also broken down by technology where technology would work in high tech hexes and not in low... it's pretty cool and also deals with the faith stuff that's prevalent throughout sci-fi

(Who... me? ) I've only read two of the Foundation books but they are great books. I've also enjoyed Ender's Game and others in that series. I thought Hyperion was interesting, although I've heard the sequel leaves much to be desired. One day when I have time, I'd like to read "Strangers in a Strange Land".

Enders game was a really good book. The Halo books belive it or not were also very good. I have read a few of the star wars books the Timothy Zhan series was really very good. I am also in the middle of a Star trek book. I recommend all of those. I love to watch Stargate SG1, Star Trek ( Original, Next Gen and Deep Space 9 ), Star Wars is an eternal classic, Earth Above and Beyond ( when it was on ), let me put it this way if it is on the Sci Fi channel I am probably liking it lol. I love the whole Sci Fi genre, but Fantasy is tied with it as my fav. Anyhoo not like anyone really wanted to know but I thought I would put in my opinion on the whole matter .

I have not read any of the sequels
it like the Shrek, but that would be silly
shark
shike
shrike
something like that
I remember a ship that could sail on grass or something (amber waves of grain i suppose) and a jewish guy whose daughter kept getting younger
and a priest who had found some cave
i read it a long time ago and its all so fuzzy (why is it that the mind will hold details about all the Salvatore books (good but hardly art) and a Hugo winner gets fuzzy)

Ender's Game is great, haven't read the sequels yet tho'
Read the foundation books, loved them, and the fact that you have a signed set is amazing Zug, those are irreplacable, wow...
C. J. Cheriah wrote some excelent Sci-Fi, but I read them so long ago I barely remember them... need to go find them again...
