I was born and raised the son of the Governor of Tethelin. My father believed that I would one day follow in his footsteps and take his place as supreme Tethelin bureaucrat. To teach me the ways of a ruler, he would have me stand quietly at his side as the border guards and visiting dignitaries from exotic lands would brief my father of deeds unfathomable. He believed that hearing this would train me to be his heir...instead it lit my imagination on fire and led me to daydream of these heroes at the borders and what life is like in these strangers lands.
Through the years I also sang in the Choir at the temple of Tunare. My voice was deemed beautiful even by the learned minstrels of my kin. Though I realized that though I surely was endowed with great gifts of diplomacy, it would be my skills with voice and blade that would guide my path. And so I took an apprenticeship as a bard.
My father was not thrilled to hear of my choice of occupation. He had always seen me as a sage of Fayspire. I convinced him, however that if I was to learn to be a just ruler in years of turmoil that the augers had foreseen then,I would have to walk amongst our fellow races and learn their customs. Needless to say, he was not pleased with my decision, but he was wise enough to realize that their was more than one path to a goal and he aquiesced.
I will start my training shortly and so I have come before you...clerk of the census office...to tell you of my decision and announce my goals!
