I can tell you a few of the answers: 1) There is no expansion currently in development. The team is focusing on a solid stream of free content updates and refining the existing content (as we've seen with recent NPC changes and the upcoming Cazic Thule trial fix). 2) The game will be around at the end of the year and well into next. No plans at all for discontinuing the service. 3) Unfortunately, SOE does not release subscription or concurrent player numbers in any other format than a press release. I can't give that info out in forums, nor can Customer Service give it out in email. That said, EQOA does have pretty solid numbers across the servers on a daily basis. Hope this helps. 01-12-2005 02:17 PM

Yes I read this info on the forums too. I just hope the team is focusing on adding a roleplaying server. Maybe on one of the free content updates they might add a way for players to tag themselves as roleplayers, so roleplayers can find each other easier.

It would be nice, Zoomok, but I'm 100% sure it won't happen. The player base is shrinking on EQOA, and Gaien has mentioned that even on hot games like World of Warcraft, there are many more non-roleplayers out there.

On the good side, I should be able to get a character to 60 in the next couple of years, LOL!! ;D

I concur with Rhabuka...we are a minority to be sure... Your right the problem isn't that we don't have a RP server, the problem is that we are in the minority. If the roleplayers were in the mayority, the world of Tunaria would be different.

Even if the devs didn't give us a rp server we have more fun indeed.. Imagine having 98% of the server being roleplayers.. The inns and travens in the towns would never be empty. All types of RP guilds providing events and political intrigue... Why would we roleplayers wait for the devs to provide SL's? I would think that with that many roleplayers (many who would be developing Stories) there be 100's of SL's happening in town alone.

It would be cool, I totally agree.
Does EQ PC or other games like that have RP-dedicated servers? I'm pretty sure they do. I wonder how the player population compares to regular servers, and whether setting up RP-only ones is worthwhile.

Yes, EQ PC and EQ 2 have RP-preferred servers. EQ PC has one and EQ 2 has two roleplaying preferred servers.
I read on the forums that the server's population is as full as the regular servers. Though i think more than half of the population is nonroleplayers.
I believe that there are a lot of players (potential roleplayers) in EQOA that don't know about roleplaying. Players who might discover and enjoy roleplaying if we only got a chance to introduce them to roleplaying.
For that reason alone I think its worthwhile.
Thanks for the reply Rhabuka! ;D

Indeed, some people were hurling virtual tomatoes at him, LOL!!
It was interesting (and kind of disappointing) to see some people's reactions to his bard song. A few folks became downright hostile and called him a few choice words.

awww, that sucks, so far when ive had to do rp in "public" ive had some good repsonses, one person even joined our guild, even tho they didnt stick around long. but i think that a public event is a cool idea, im goin to see if i can think one up, one that the person isnt all by themselves. even tho i cant see how anyone cant like eli's singin

LOL, Thanks Shal...though it was on Marr's Fist so maybe Dimeola doesn't quite have the voice/looks that Elindar does.
