eqoaforums.station.sony.com/eqoa/board/message?board.id=discussion&message.id=240534&no_redir=true Well its not, i have seen almost no Role playing in this game at all. What I was thinking was a Role-Playing chat channel like the say channel. This would increase the fun factor of the game. Please post feedback and ideas on this subject. I would really appreciate a red name dropping by so add some good ideas and keep it on the 1st page.

Anybody else see this on the EQOA forums?

;D I haven't seen any ooc roleplaying threads for a long time on the EQOA discussion forums so this thread caught my attention and thought it might be of interest to us (the RPA). Its good to see that there might be an increase of roleplayers in EQOA.
The Roleplaying chat channel is a good idea, though it would have to be server wide to really work. The channel could be used by roleplayers to find each other.

I agree, this would be fun. I guess the tricky thing is how to enforce it -- will someone be there to moderate and check that people are actually using it to roleplay?
Right now the devs are busy with the 60 epics, but these guys have been more responsive to player suggestions and feedback than most.
Severedamage is attending the EQ Fan Faire in Vegas this weekend, and I know he's spoken with both Zatozia and Sapphyra -- I'll be curious to hear what they said.

LOL! Unfortunately, I am an eternal pessimist and agree with Nobel, the concept is great but...there are alot of people in this game that say the most ridiculous things all the time. I was just saying to Mack yesterday, if I was in a bar with people I have been on raids with and the bouncer's overheard the things that came out of their mouths, they would be thrown out and arrested. The worst part is after saying these (usually sexually explicit) things, they go on to say, gotta go my kids need to play. Sorry this has turned into a rant, but yes, thats what makes the sponsored quests good RP opportunities since their aren't stock responses. I would love a RP channel, but do think it would be griefed worse than shouts in Freeport.

Yes, the hard thing is how to inforce it. Maybe someone from the guide program could help moderate the channel.
I guess I liked this idea because theres seems to be less chance of us getting a RP server. But if we don't get a RP server, I would like something helpful to be created for the roleplayers, for example a roleplaying flag or something.
Thanks Noble for the info about Severedamage. I agree It would be great to hear if Zatozia and Sapphyra said something nice about us. ;D

[Role playing really didnt' have a place in EQOA from the very start, well before lycanthropy, so you can't really blame it on that. It's not as if role-play was common place then suddenly stopped because everyone has a wereform now. EQOA has never really done anything to encourage role-play. If anything, it's been discouraged. Let's take our first clue ... factions. The mechanics and in-game dynamics of factions is fundimentally flawed. How, you ask? Well, how is it that factions manipulate your character's place in the world? How are you enhanced or impared in direct relation to your faction? Your available coaches, and ... well, that's just about it. And there is very little you can do to change those coaches. As soon as you choose a race, in most cases, your coach list is premade. You have but to sign ledgers to complete the process. Sure, there are some race/class combos that can sign coaches they wouldn't normally be able to, but for the most part, this is the way it is. Elves don't coach to Ogguk and Trolls don't coach to Rivervale. Factions should be much more indepth than they are. Even someone as pure and good as an elf cleric has opportunity to fall from grace from a roleplay standpoint. But not in EQOA. Sure, you can tarnish your fayspires faction, but you will never be able to completely convert to evil and frequent areas offlimits to other elves. This is a fundimental flaw. Another flaw is being able to group with members of opposing faction. It's nearly unthinkable to run by and see elves grouped with trolls at nasehirs. It's unfathomable to see dark elves grouped with barbarians at DFC. And it's ridiculous to see Ogres grouped with hobbits in EG. Well, from a role-playing point of view, it is. But it happens all the time. People of opposing factions will group with each other and not think twice about it. I think that everyone who are considered enemies, should be. They should all be KoS to one another. And if you are a traditionally good race who decides to become evil, you should be able to. You should be able to become friendly with opposing races while becoming KoS to all of your original race. Also, grouping with enemies should be discouraged. If you chose to group with someone you're KoS to, you should incur an XP penalty. Yes, this is an RPG, but it was dumbed down to cater to a younger crowd who would rather run around blasting things than immersing themselves into an indepth story line or plot. However, SOE misjudged the the demographics. True, there are less mature folks that play, but for the most part, I think most of us are mature adults who really do enjoy a good story. We want to be a part of it. We want to act it out, and we really do want to role-play. I know I do, but it's just really not an element in this particular game. It's more of a 3rd person shooter than an RPG. The basic dynamics of the game are simply too far removed from RPG to ever truely enjoy an RPG experience. True, lycanthropy is a possible contributor, but it certainly is not entirely at fault. For those of us who wish to RPG, I fear our only hope is that SOE reviews its customer base and any future versions will be more RPG friendly. Until then, whenever i need a real RPG fix, I'll just hop on my favorite MuD. /blockquote]
FIVE STARS to this post!!! I had the same thought, that they were blaming the animals to much.
