In a cave in the darkest regions of the great white north a small fire is burning, not keeping the cold at bay, its only use is for a light source. The figure in the cave is clothed in hides to keep the cold away. There are many bones laying about in the cave but the pile at the feet of the figure is layed out as of someone sleeping.
There isnt much left of the body that it once was, mostly dirty pieces of cloth and leather that the body was wearing when it was put to earth. Nothing that distinguishes the body in any way.
The figure is standing over the pile of bones mumbling to itself. In the darkness the wolves are howling, sending messages back and forth. The figure looks at the cave entrance when it hears a wolf howl close by. The figure freezes in its tracks until it realizes that the wolf is just outside watching and waiting for the right time to attack, for it smells food inside the cave and it knows that it wont be long before it gets to feed. The fear of the fire has long since gone from its memory.
After a few moments the figure goes back to mumbling and watching the pile of bones at its feet, it wont be long now, the time is almost right.
soon now, life shall return

As the night progresses the figure finally sits down near the fire. As it reaches for a a couple bigger sticks that it had collected it hopes that the wolves stay away. A sudden movement outside the cave entrance makes the figure stop mid reach. It sighs as it realizes that the movement was just snow falling yet again.
" I wish the snow would stop for awhile, it cant get any colder up here"
It shivers as it pulls the hides closer around its body and hopes the pile of wood that it collected will last for the length of time that it will be needing to be up in such a dreadful place.
" It wont be long now, not tonight though, maybe tomorrow night"
Time to sit and wait...patience and everything will work.

as the figure sleeps by the small fire the wolves that were calling to each other start to gather outside the cave. not one of them enter the cave but they all lay down by the trees.
at first glance the wolves look normal, same grungy looking fur and hungry eyes. but if one looks at them closely they will realize that they are bigger than most of the wolves that live in the area. another sign that these wolves arent normal is the fact that nature has gone quiet as soon as the wolves got to the cave. everything is silent.
as the night progresses the moon slowly comes up. each of the wolves look up at the moon and stare for a few minutes.
the largest of the wolves sits up and lets out a howl which the rest of the wolves follow. then they turn around and head back to the depths of the forest to wait. they know that the time is near.
