Dagget sat at the table of his home going through the mail he had recieved and not opened for the past three weeks. His mind had been too worried to pay attention to much of anything. Ahamae had not contacted him since her eigth season and he was growing worried about her. It had been so long since he had seen his beloved daughter that he was beginning to forget her voice, the sound of her laughter at his jokes.
His eyes fell upon a scroll as those thoughts went to his mind and he could not help but give a loud hoot. He recognized the seal perfectly. Ahamae had written to him, but how long ago had it been? Carefully he broke the seal and opened the scroll to read what she had to say.
Father,
I know that in a few seasons I will have grown old enough for marriage by your standards. Yet, I have recently found the family of my birth. I discovered my cousin recently and she is beginning to show me the world that I missed as a child. I am not forgetting the ways I was taught, but I have come to the conclusion that with being raised by one tradition and born into another, I now must compromise my life to suit both those families. Tell Falgor I said hello for me. I do not know when I will be coming home again but I am hoping to be soon.
Your daughter,
Ahamae.
Dagget frowned slightly as he re read the letter from his daughter. Compromises, eh?, he thought. He sighed, though, as he read her request for Falgor. The girl would be heart broken again when she found out that yet another of her family, her real family, had been killed.
"It's taken you two weeks to read that?"
The voice of his young daughter made him jump slightly and he turned to look at her. He brightened when he saw her, giving out another loud hoot.
"Blessed Brell, ye've come back tae meh!" He cried, giving her a warm hug as she laughed slightly before sitting down.
"I decided it was time for a visit home. I've not heard the quarrymen sing in years."
Dagget frowned as he looked at her. "What happened tae ye voice, girl?" He said, flopping down into the chair near her. She smiled weakly at him.
"I've changed, father. I have gained allies of many races, and my time away from here has been well spent, but I have changed."
"Ye ain't kiddin'." He scoffed. "Ye used tae have a right proper dwarf voice. Now ye got one o' them high an' mighty tones tae yer voice. Ye been hangin' round too many Elves, girl." He sighed.
"Actually...I've mostly joined forces with humans and dark elves."
Dagget shot to his feet, his eyes wide with outrage. "Ye've been round DELFS?! What's teh matter wi' you, girl? Ain't you got no sense left in yer brain?"
"I have more sense in me now than I did when I first started my journey." She said calmly, for once, not loosing her temper.
Dagget couldn't stop himself from blurting the words angrily out of his mouth. "It was a bloody delf that killed Falgor! An' yer hangin' round with THEIR ilk?"
He regretted it. As soon as he said the words, he knew he had messed up. Ahamae just looked at him with a forelorn expression so heart sickening he wanted to blurt out a thousand appologies. It was too late, though. In his angered state he just stood there, glaring at her as she stood and walked from his home.
Dagget sat down on the chair again in a huff. He needed a drink.
