Phelan sat by himself on the bed, trying to figure out what kind of life he might live without being able to see. I can't let some one take care of me, I won't be helpless, he thought to himself. He never realized how much he depended on his sight, if felt as if an eternity had passed since Naldany left him.
He groped around blindly knocking over the tray of food and cursing himself. He finally found a post at the end of the bed and pulled himself from bed. He stood and tried to remember what the room looked like and where his clothes ended up.
He out streched his hands when he thought he had figured out the right direction and started out slowly for the wall. He felt somethign tangle about his feet and he stumbled trying to regain his balance but he stepped on something sharp and fell backwards hitting his head on the floor.
He felt blood trickling from the back of his head. He crawled toward the obstacle that had tangled him and found his pants. He slowly worked them on and looked for his shirt next. He could feel his tears of frustration running down his cheeks. He heard the door open and he began trying to stand.

" I told you not to move.. Why didn't you listen to me?"
Naldany feel down beside him and ripped her robe and started wiping the blood off him. The Man moved her hand and healed the gash on his head.
" No what is wrong here miss?"
" Its my husband his eyes ..... "

"Sir, I awoke this morning after having a dream and I was blind. Is there anything you can do? " Phelan asked, despair clearly on his face. The man guided Phelan to the bed. Phelan coudl feel the mans hands on his face, pulling down his eye lids and turning his head. Phelan wished he could see the mans face. " hmmm.....mmmmmm......hmmm... " The man said as he looked at Phelan.
"Well sir, I can see nothing wrong with your eyes. Physically that is... your eyes have always been blue? I find this an odd color for a dark elf." The man said.
"umm....no...they were red last night...They are blue? " Phelan said astonished.
" That they are, hmm you said you had a dream, maybe you should tell me of this dream " The man said. Phelan related to him the dream in detail. Naldany sat next to Phelan and held his hand, listening with the old man. An expression of wonder crossed the mans face. Seeing the mans face Naldany couldnt take it.
" What?! what do you know?! " Naldany said and Phelan placed his hand on her arm.
" I have heard of this before, but never with a Dark elf, no offense, you have been charged by one of the Gods to lead, by example, you are not like the others of your race are you? " The man said.
"I wasn't raised in Neriak, at the age of 6 I ran from Neriak and ended up being raised by an elf in the elven forest. I dont' care what the gods want from me, will I get my sight back? " Phelan asked his frustration showing a bit in his tone and the scowl on his face.
" As far as I can tell yes, this is usually a temporary condition it happens to most clerics and paladins in thier 20th season, though thier eyes rarely change color. I would say with a few hours you will begin regaining your sight. " the man said and left.

" I want you to stay in here until your sight returns, I'm going to go have a look around in the woods here. I herd there is orcs in the area."
Naldany made Phelan lay down in the bed then handed him some bread.
" I will be back in a few hours please listen to me."
Naldany pulled the blanket back on him and left the room.
Back in Neriak Naldany's familiar had entered the Grand denouncer's chambers. He looked worried as he read the letter from his grandaughter. He crumbled the letter and sends for the guard captain. Before long he stood before him.
" You wished to see me my lord." He asked.
" I want you to bring my granddaughter back home to me. Take some of the house members with you. Bring her back now." He turns away then looks back.
" Your still here ....LEAVE NOW ... she is at the Last Inn at mount hatespike."
He bows and leaves, as he leaves out he commisions a enchantress and priest to go along with him and another wizardress.

Phelan thought about getting up out of bed after she had left but thought better of it.
Better for me to sit here and wait. This can't be right, I must have damaged my eyes somehow. I can only hope that my sight will return.
Images of Kalysta crossed his mind and his heart ached. There is also that. He thought. It isnt' fair, how can I love them both, it was supposed to be so simple. It hadn't turned out that way. What would Kal do when she found out. She is going to hunt me down. He thought taking a deep breath.
Images of Naldany aslo floated through his head. He rubbed his temples, he was getting a headache. What to do? What to do? He thought over and over. In his heart he knew he loved Naldany also, he couldn't reconcile himself with being in love with them both, but that was the case much to his dislike.
For what seemed like days he sat thinking in the darkness as what felt like hour after hour crept by. Thinking about his situation and what would happen if he were to return to Neriak with Naldany, she was young and naive. Her Grandfather would have no qualms with killing either one of them. You dont' become a powerful figure in Neriak without the ability to backstab anyone. He thought.
He couldn't tell if he had fallen asleep or not, what was real and what wansn't. A silence hung in the room that seemed to amplify the darkness that Phelan saw. He sat listening to his breathing in and out, in and out.
He thought he heard the floorboards creak, his heart raced. What would I do, could I do if someone attacked me here? I can't even find my swords, let alone defend myself. He thought. Somewhere down the hall the creaking ceased as a door opened and closed. He chuckled to himself a bit at his paranoia.

Naldany went north into the snowed area in search of the orcs. She thought of how Phelan’s condition upset her, and how helpless he looked. She thought the message to her grandfather would ease his mind she was fine and not to worry. But then he might be upset about her running off, he had many political enemies that would jump at this chance to cut off the bloodline. She wished she had a warmer robe and cursed herself for the one she had and it was torn now too. The river she followed north looked extremely cold with the chunks of ice floating in it across it though she could see an orc stronghold but they wasn’t the ones that was mentioned. The cold weather was taking its toll on her as she could feel her legs going numb from the cold. It had been hours since she left Phelan in the inn but she was so caught up with the cold condition that she didn’t realize how long she had been gone and for that matter how far she has traveled. She was started to freeze from the weather so she found a dried up tree branch and casted a fire spell on it. That barely did anything to warm her, but she pushed forward just a little bit more she could see a fort built on the side of a mountain and very tall looking people at the gate. Finally the cold claimed her as she fell within view of the barbarian sentry on patrol, he rushed over to her and threw his fur over her and carried her into the fort.
The captain of he guard and his party made it to Seriak they saw to there final preparations to retrieve Naldany and Phelan.
“ Sir what will we do should they not want to cooperate and return to Neriak?” asked wizardress.
“ We will take them by force. I will take the man toy its you casters job to suppress the denouncers granddaughter... an do not harm her she still has a use to him.”<br> " Oh to him or to you..." She said with a smirk
He slapped her to the ground for her comment.
" Don't let me ever hear that come from your lips ... ever. You women of the house may be beautiful but you are nothing more than a servant."

Phelan opened his eyes, he hadn't even realized that he had slipped off to sleep. He looked around and couldnt' find Naldany. Then he realized he was looking, that he could see, even if it was blurry. He quickly got out of bed and finished dressing. He strapped on his swords and headed down to the innkeep.
Phelan had a smile on his face that couldnt' be matched. He looked to the blur behind the counter.
" Excuse me" Phelan said polietly.
" What " The voice of the blur said.
" Have you seen my wife?" Phelan said.
"She left early this afternoon " The voice said.
" Thank you " Phelan said as he left for the door.
Where could she have gone? She said something about orcs when she came in with the food this morning, but I dont' remember which direction she wanted to go, I was too busy with my eyes. Phelan thought. He couldn't see any details, he could hear the water, and see a dark blue blur that cut the ground down below him and green blurs wich must have been trees. He decided that he would wait outside for her to return, though he had thought she would be back by now.

" Umm sir I believe she went to the north and she didn't look dressed to handle the cold temperatures." The voice said." Was she upset or something the Barberians to the north might not be to hospitable should she wander too far."

Phelan turned "thank you very much, I must find her. " Phelan said to the voice. He still couldn't see anything more than shapes and vauge colors. He knew he probably shouldnt' be running after her, but he had to.
He took off running for the north up the right bank of the river. Stumbling everynow and again over a portruding branch or rock. Before long he happend across some shapes, but by the smell of it they weren't Naldany.
He drew his swords, not too many things smelled as bad as an orc, except maybe a troll or an ogre.
Phelan lunged into battle hoping that he wasn't too late for Naldany. He hoped that she was still in the area. The orc let out a gurtled cry and charge on, Phelan knew he was in trouble when he heard multilple cries follow from all around him.

Nikkii had arrived at the Last inn just as the captain of the guard and his group arrived.
" What are you doing here you should be at your post."
" I am here under orders from your father my'lady. Naldany was kidnapped from neriak by her new husband .. that Phelan and was taken residence here."
" So he did marry her.. but why would he come here?"
" That is why I am here.... we are to bring them back at any cost Phelan is of no concern."
" You will not kill him he is under my care and if you don't like it then this place will serve as your grave."
Just then the enchantress came around the corner dragging Phelan who was soaked.
" My'lady he was is the river behind us looks like someone may have beaten him."
Nikkii heals him and yanks him from the enchantress. Phelan starts to recover as Nikkii begin berating him.
"WHERES NALDANY YOU USELESS PUPPET?"

Phelan was still shaking from the cold water as he hung helplessly in the clutches of the newest unknown blur. He couldn't hear and his sight hadn't improved much, he was beginning to think that maybe his eyes wouldnt' recover.
When he finally could hear straight he was being shook about and screamed at about Naldany. Naldany? He hadn't even saw her. Useless puppet? Nikki, that is the only explaination... It sounds like her. He thought.
" Lady Nikkii?.... What are you doing here?..... Where is Naldany? " Phelan managed between shakes.

" What do you mean where is Naldany... you idiot, she better be ok."
The wizardress noticed Phelan's eyes and got Nikkii's attention.
" Lady Nikkii look at his eyes... they are blue."
She gazes into his eyes and smirks.:: I knew he was different.:: She thinks as she stands him up.
" He should be executed now Lady Nikkii." The gaurd captain said.
" I don't think your opinion matters here.. in fact I think its time you retired." Nikkii chants her arcane bolt and the enchantress and wizardress follow her lead. All at once they strike the captain leaving nothing but a smoldering body in armor. The priest looks him over and says a prayer. Nikkii looks toward Phelan then grabs his hand.
" Looks like your the new captain of the O'seth gaurd Phelan... Now find my niece."

Anger flared inside Phelan, though he couldn't see, he knew that she was smirking and figured that the captain wouldn't be moving anymore. Phelan threw his arms upwards in the crooks of Nikkii's elbows making her release him.
" Do you not think that I want to find my wife!! What do you think I was doing?! She was nowhere to be found, I was swarmed by at least twenty orcs, I am suprised I am not dead. Every moment you stand here yelling at me means she is that much closer to death and you may wish to help me, because I can't see anything yet! Now if you are quite done, I will be on my way. "
Phelan turned and departed to the direction he thought was north, he couldnt' tell without his land marks. He squinted at the ground trying to discern rocks and branches that may trip him, without much sucess. He tripped twice within the first ten feet of walking from Nikkii.

Nikkii came up beside him and grabbed his arm and helped to steady himself. They others followed closely behind.
" So you did marry her and ... you act as though you care for her now.. Nikkii looks at him and watches his reaction to it. then noticed the swords he had. " And I see she has given you a family heirloom as well.. maybe she might even care for you as well, but what of that tavern wench you was with in Freeport and Klick? Don't tell me that Naldany as pretty as she is made you forget of her already?"
She could feel Phelan tense when she said that and knew that finding Naldany took priorty so she didn't want to push that issue more unless he brought it up or Naldany was found.
" What direction did she go?" the enchantress asked

Phelan thought he had layed to rest for the time being his conflict with Kal and Nal, but Nikkii had dragged it back up again. Phelan felt his heart being crushed by the thoughts, so absorbed in trying not to show on his exterior that he almost didn't here Nikkii ask her question. Phelan snapped back to his blurry world.
" North I was told, but as I said I could find no trace of her, if I couls see I am sure I could have tracked her. " Phelan said quietly.
