A heavy sigh upon my head I strolled along the road from Tethelin to Fayspires. My father has not been too happy with recent developments between the two elfhomes. The Thex's seem to be taxxing the poor Tetheliners more heavily, and lately there has been several incidents in which Fayspire citizens have been found taunting the children of Tethelin.
Such is the life of the son of a Bureaucrat. I find myself being wound tighter and tighter within the bindings of politics and less and less able to gavant and sing as my occupation and my station have come to odds.
I try to wash these heavy thoughts away with the visions of the ladies who had visited me the past few evenings...but found no solace in these visions of carnality...
At the bridge I tipped my hat at my sometime mentor Dolby. Dolby has been one of the primary political figures. He has a reputation in both lands that is irrefutable, and because of this, many are those that would muster if he sent a call to arms.
"How goes it Dolby?"
"Elindar, it is good to see you, you have grown into the spitting image of your father in his youth."
I blushed, it is said that my father who had given up his profession as a storm caller to take to politics was charismatically off the scale. I have heard others saying that he must have been a looker since my mother is considered to be the fairest of her generation.
"Why thank you Master Dolby?"
"What troubles you Elindar? I did not believe that a free spirit such as you was even capable of such a sullen look. Haven't the ladies been treating you right?"
He winked at me and I blushed even more.
"It's not that, Oh My Tunare...."
I pointed at something coming from down the road from Fayspire it was a....

bespectacled gnome riding on a brown pony with socks on it's front legs.
"Nobel!" I exclaimed with delight. "It is good to see you, I know you have such a hard time staying away from such a handsome elf, such as myself, but I thought we weren't supposed to meet for another fort night?"
The gnome smirked.
"Oh where are my manners, Lady Nobel mistress of the Elements, Master Dolby mentor supreme."
Dolby bowed low to the oncoming gnome and helped her dismount.
"Why thank you Master Dolby." Nobel said with her squeaky voice.
"So, my Lady now that the pleasantries are over, what does bring you here to my homeland. I have to admit that there have been better times to pay a visit."
Dolby shot a disapproving look in my direction.
Nobel looked up at me and said, "....

"Well Elindar, it is good of you to ask! I certainly do appreciate it. I am actually preparing myself for more training. You see, people always seem to call on me when there is a wasp problem."
Elindar nodded gravely, somehow subduing a smile.
"It began when I was quite young, you know. Only my fifth or sixth Tunarian cycle. Back then it was a nasty variety named the Mindwhippers, which seem to plague areas between my homeland and Fayspires. And then it happened again in..."
Elindar looked over at Dolby, who was unsuccessfully battling a yawn. He turned back to the young mage and beamed his most handsome smile.
"Nobel, that is most fascinating" he said, thankfully stopping the loqacious gnome in mid-sentence. She blushed appreciately.
"I just returned from the areas surrounding Thedruk tunnel, it seems you folk have some kind of orc problem."
Elindar nodded gravely.
"You are very observant, young one. It appears that these orcs are up to something..."

"they seem to be planning some form of assault. This is part of the problems that seem to be causing a rift among my people."
"I do say that I am not an expert in orc infestations, however, wasps..."
I could no longer hold in my mirth. A loud belly laugh blasted from me and my sides hurt from the laughter that overcame me. Even dour Dolby was finally cracking a smile."
"Mistress gnome, I shall hence forth call you Nobel Waspslayer scourge of six legged beasts extraordinaire."
The gnome gave me a bit of a vexxed look but had a hard time not joining in with the jolliness of the moment.
"However", I added"...orcs are not just a problem of the elves, but of all civilized races of Norrath."
Dolby interrupted here, "That is a good point Elindar, perhaps the waspslayer will help you investigate...these upstart humanoids...you do know the spell of dissapearing, don't you Miss Waspslayer?"
Nobel glared at Elindar, but as she looked upon my beautiful face, her expression changed to that of a tinkerer dreaming of the greates clockwork ever.
"I do and I think I understand what you are asking. I will journey with you to Thedruk, perhaps I can learn something about these orcs while we are there."
"Thank you lady mage."
I bowed so low to the little magician that my hair dragged on the ground and when I stood up once again I had to comb several leaves from my locks.
"good luck to you", Dolby bid us, "we will continue our conversation Elindar when you return."
I place my hat on my head and tipped it to Dolby. I nodded to Nobel and we set off south along the river...

The elvish bard strode alongside the river. His movements were like liquid, the very epitome of agility and grace. Even the badgers and spiders in the area took note when he passed.
Just slightly behind him, Nobel pumped her arms hard to keep up, her short legs a blur of movement. They had left her pony behind with Dolby, for fear that the orcs might think it a snack.
The gnome smiled, despite herself, as this arrangement afforded her a good view of some of Elindar's other... assets.
He seemed to sense her ogling, as he slowed slightly to catch up with her, flashing yet another of his gleaming smiles.
"So tell me, Elindar," said Nobel. "Have you ever passed through Thedruk tunnel? I hear that the dwarven city is just on the other side. Is that true? I would certainly like to meet Thorgram. From what you say, he seems like an interesting fellow. I..."
"Yes," the handsome elf interrupted, amazed at the gnome's ability to keep breathing while speaking so much. "Yes, I have traveled through the tunnel before. It is not an easy task for one such as you. For me, well, I can practically dance circles around those beasts without them knowing I was there."
Nobel pursed her lips into an "O". She was truly impressed.
"And yes, Thorgram Deepmug's home is on the other side of this accursed tunnel. It is the quickest way for we elves to visit the dwarf lords of Moradhim."
"Tell me, Elindar. The elves and the dwarves are strong peoples -- why not clear the orcs out of Thedruk tunnel and guarantee yourselves safe passage? Has anyone ever thought of that?"
Elindar halted, staring down at the mage. "Well..."
(p.s. Feel free to add in, El and I have no set plans for this SL!)

"...Why not, indeed!"
Elindar led Nobel down the river and to the bridge guarded by the foul orcs.
I whispered to the young mage, 'We need to get a bit closer before we can formulate a plan'
I was quite taken aback at the sheer number of humanoids in and around the bridge with my home but a few leagues distant.
"it might be time to cast that invisibility spell, Nobel" I uttered very softly.
Nobel pushed the glasses up her nose with her left index finger and began to utter arcane words beyond my knowledge. I vanished. She said the same words and made the same gestures fading into nothingness herself.
"How was that sir?" she asked in a tone a little loud for my comfort.
I shushed her quietly and reached where she had stood. Flailing my arms until I got a piece of fabric.
"Oh El!"
SHHHHhhhHhh
"I need to keep a hand on you so that we can get closer."
Pulling Nobel with me...we slowly avoided many orcs until we found ourselves on the side of the steps leading into the maw of Thedruk mines....

quickly I whipped out a recorder out of my pocket and began to play an ancient lullaby that I had learned, listening to the Hatebones in my youth. Slowly we made our ways up the tunnel and through the mines, my bardic magic leaving a plethora of orcs slumbering on the flagstones. Nobel started to speak as we saw the light breaking through the gaping maw of the Western entrance, but I muffled her outburst with my satin sleeve. Only two more orcs to get by, I could feel the tightness in my lungs, it had taken us two hours to traverse the mines and I was fearful that if I were to stop playing, we would be done for. I could smell the overripe odor of the last orc, then out into the glorious blue skies we burst. Quickly we moved away from the path to a small grove of pines, exhausted from the long playing I slumped under a tree and drifted off....

...off to sleep. as the young bard slept he dreamt unsettling dreams.
the dreams were fragmented as they passed through his mind.
first he saw wasps of all kinds transform into butterflies.
he then saw orcs of many turn into elves, dwarves, halflings, and gnomes.
the last thing he saw was a great storm of destruction flowing through the lands, only to see not destruction left behind but beautiful lands.
and midst all of this he saw all the people he has travelled with.
they were all travel worn, yet they were all standing in the most beautiful glade, good and evil.
they were celebrating something, yet he couldnt hear what they were saying.
but in the distance he could see a dark cloud approaching, it was moving slowly and he felt a great disturbance in the air.
he started to run to the people in hopes to....

The elf woke suddenly, drawing in his breath. His toe throbbed numbly and he guessed that he had kicked the tree he had been sleeping under.
He felt the images of his dream disappearing, and tried to hold onto them. It was like grasping the ribbons of smoke rising from a fire. Elindar sensed this dream was important. He tried to picture the faces of the people he had seen. Was Darlena among them… ?
The gnome that came bounding into view interrupted his concentration. He tried to scowl but felt the corners of his mouth turn up into a smile. Nobel had been busy while he napped, judging by the mud that caked her boots, robes and tip of her nose. Her pockets were stuffed with leaves and flowers, and her little arm was firmly wrapped around a jar that held various flying insects.
“I’m glad to see that you’re awake, Elindar!” She beamed, shoving the jar at him. “Look at these, I have never seen their likes in Klick Anon! This place is amazing!”
From Elindar’s half-prone position beneath the tree, they were both at eye-level. The elf nodded politely at the collection of insects. His stretched his arms before him, then rose from the ground.
“Come, young friend. There is much more to be seen out this way. We are not far from the dwarven lands, and I could certainly use a mug of fine ale.” He looked down at the gnome. “And you might do well with a quick bath.”
Nobel quirked her eyebrows, then looked down at her appearance. “Indeed, Sir… that might not be a bad idea.”
The two companions began to walk down the road to Moradhim…
