the strength of friendship

( this is a story line that was played out on instant messages. it included kalysta, slyfoot, MerriMekko, Wilkens, and Renee Wilks. i have to say thanks to sly and aer for this story. i had to grab a post that sly did because one part of the story didnt work without it)

:: you see merri wandering about the desert. she is waiting for the perfect time to deal with her sister. while she is walking around she hears a voice
:::merri...merri, please speak to me:::
what..who is that....where are you?
:: she starts turning in circles::
:::Merri:::
who are you, i cant see you...come out of hiding
::: we shared bornus...i need your help they tried to kill me :::
sly? but where are you hiding, i cant find you
::: i am very far from you, i am scared, what if they come for me again:::
dont fool with me girl, i know you are near me because i can hear you
::: please dont be harsh with me, you can hear me because of my gift :::
bah, are you saying i have a head sickness and thats why i can hear you?
::: no you arent sick, i need your help...please come help me :::
i cant come to help you, i have much more pressing business to attend to
::: you would leave me to die? :::
die? hmmm....where are you?
::: i am alone, in cave to the west of the statue, i have no food and im so cold please come and help me :::

:::merri heads to the closest coach. smiling with such an evil smile, maybe i will have another subject to see bout my newest theory. and if it doesnt work i can just say she was dead when i got there:::

For a few hours, Wilkens sat, plotting her revenge, a revenge for which she had thirsted for years.

Wilkens jumped up as she heard Slyfoot’s weak voice echo in her head.
“Sly! What’s wrong, where are you. Are you ok?”<br>::::::: Plan….Wilken’s..plan…it must not fail……. :::::
“I can plan later! Slyfoot, what’s wrong?”<br>:::: I….I am cold….so cold…:::::
“Tell me where you are so I can help you.”<br>::::: …..no….just plan…. :::::
Wilken’s cursed under her breath, “Sly, tell me where you are….wait….you didn’t tell her where you are did you?”<br>::::: your sister…she comes to me… you have time now…. ::::
“Oh no, Sly, she will kill you!”<br>::::: ….well….it is to late now…… :::::
“No, Sly, tell me where you are, I might can reach you before she does.”<br>:::: …..are you prepared to destroy….destroy her ::::
“I have been prepared since the day she threw that acid on me.”<br>::::: You…you canno….cannot kill her.. ::::
“No, she deserves to die for what she has done. Now tell me where you are!”<br>:::: ….no….you cannot kill her……::::
“Ok, but tell me Sly..”<br>:::: do you promise me…..:::
“ I promise “<br>:::: the second cave….to..to the…west…..of…the…sta….sstaa ::
“The second cave to the west of what?”<br>:::: Statue….. so….cold….. :::
“ I am coming Sly”<br>
With that, Wilkens rushed off to her mother’s house, praying that her feet would carry her quick enough, praying that it wasn’t to late

wilkens runs into the house " MOTHER" " yes what is it?" " sly needs us, get your warm clothing and be ready when i get back downstairs"
:: wilkens runs upstairs and charges into her old room, scaring the daylights out of kalysta::
" oh im sorry, you are not in danger. i just need my warm clothing"
:: just as she says this she remembers her promise to sly that she would protect kal, she cant do that if she leaves her behind ::
" dam what am i going to do with you? oh never mind, i will take you with me. get your stuff together, i will lend you some of my warm clothing, it wont fit but at least it will keep you warm"
" i was just about to eat lunch::points to some soup on the table:: what is wrong, why do i need warm clothing, where are you taking me?"
"we are going to the far north, sly is in trouble"
::at that kal quickly dresses and turns just in time to catch the clothing that wilkens has thrown at her::
" i knew something was wrong her voice sounded so far away"
"sly talk to me, tell me anything, just dont stop talking"
" are you ready kal?" " yes" " ok lets go, my mother should be ready by now"
" oh shes coming too, good, sly hold on if anyone can help its renee"
:: the two of them run downstairs and sees renee at the table closing a pouch::
" are you ready mother"
"yes, i have everything we will need. oh we are taking kal with us"
" yes, i cant leave her here, i gave her some of my warm clothing"

:: the three of them leave the house at a run to the coach that will take them to sly ::

:: renee, kalysta and wilkens are in a coach heading for tethelin ::

" sly, you have stopped talking to me, tell me about frog leg soup" :: wilkens is getting worried, and she wonders if she should tell her mother that they may meet up with merri.::
"cassie are you feeling alright, you are talking like you have the head sickness" :: as renee says this she reaches over to feel wilkens head ::
" oh mother, i told you i dont like being called that, and im just fine"
::kal giggles quietly to herself:: " oh hush you" growls wilkens. :: kal smiles teasingly at wilkens::
" ya cassie is my first name, its stupid if you ask me"
" it was your grandmothers name"
"ya ya i know, i should be proud to have been named after a great healer but if you were goin to do that you should have called me renee" ::looking at her mother and smiling::
" dont worry sly, we will be fine, i did learn a few things before i was ousted from my home"
::wilkens looks at kal with a frown:: " she talks to you too?" " wilkens how much farther, she doesnt sound good. oh, yes she does, you as well i see"
" not far we have just left klick a non, you will have to hide your face now."
:: renee looks at the two girls and frowns with worry::
" ok you two, what are you talking about"
" why do i need to hide my face?" ::kal asks this with some anger, for why should a princess hide::
" because of where we are going, they dont like your kind. we are going to the home of the elves"
"sly, tell me about zug, tell me about when you met the ogre"
::renee exclaimes:: " OGRE?"
" oh dont worry mother, he is harmless."
" ::says flatly:: oh yes, the elves who hate any of those who dont share their ::sneering:: noble blood"
" ok we are at tethelin now, keep covered kal"
" this place stinks of elves, they live in trees ::laughs:: silly creatures"
" ok we will have to walk from here, i just hope we can get there before she does"
" sly you stopped talking to me again, come on tell me anything, just dont stop talking"
:: renee is getting impatient and a bit worried::" ok that does it, stop right now"
" mother we dont have time to stop" replies wilkens with some exasperation.
" renee, we cant stop, she needs us"
" how do you know this, you two are going to tell me what is going and why the two of you are talking like you have the head sickness"
" your mother cant hear her can she?"
" hear who, umm, who is that?" :: renee stands in confusion::
" ok mother that is sly you are hearing its a gift of hers"
:: renee is standing there as if listening to the wind:: " dam, ok, lets go. you can explain it better later"

:: as they run north, they come to no harm. it seems as if all the wild life have disappeared::
" this is a bit strange, where is the wildlife?"
" cassie, who is the she you spoke of?"
:: wilkens looks worried about the two questions and wonders how to tell them about the danger they are heading too, she figures she had better tell them. ::
" i think i know what has happened to the wild life and as for the she i spoke of, its Merri. she is on her way to sly as we speak"
" WHAT"
" oh dear, thats not good at all"
" yes sly, i remember, i promised"
" kal do you know of her?"
"yes...that sister of yours? If she lays one hand on Sly's head, I swear! :::wand glows brightly:::"
" dam dam dam, sly, dont worry we are almost there and kal dont worry about my sister i will deal with her, sly what is happening?"
" she is too quiet" :: kal has a worried look on her face as she says this::
" oh dear, we have to move faster"
" sly? answer me, we are almost there i can see the statue, sly dont give up, i need you to talk to me, you have to tell me exactly where you are in this cave"

:: kal :::::whispering::: Protect her now... ::::mumbles a prayer in a foriegn tounge::::

:: they have come to the entrance of a cave, and there are dead bodies all around them::

" kal, if what i fear has happened i need you to protect my mother"
" i will"
" for i cant help sly if i have to worry about her"
:::dont forget your promise, you cant kill your sister, you have to trap her spirit in a stone:::
" you dont have to worry about me child"
" oh mother, you know as well as i do what merri will do to you if she sees you. sly, talk to me, tell me where you are"
" dam it, shes not telling me, but merri is near her..that is all i know"
" ok since she wont tell me we will have to go in and look for her, if i tell you guys to stay back you stay back no questions asked "
:: both renee and kal nod their agreement ::
" we're coming sly" :: wilkens draws her sword and kal readys her wand and they go running into the cave with renee following::
" oh hey look, theres a trail of dead bodies that goes down this tunnel. this has to be the way, cause look down that one, i can see things skulking around down there"
:: they follow the trail of dead bodies to a wall of rocks ::
" sly can you hear me, answer me, kal is she talking to you?" " no she has gone quiet, the last thing i heard her say was merri" " when was that?" " just after we got here" :: kal realizes that sly may be dead :: " she cant be dead, she just cant be" :: wilks looks at kal and turns pale and snaps at kal :: " dont talk like that she isnt dead, here hold my sword but as soon as i can get us thru this wall hand it back fast" :: wilkens hands the sword to kal as she nods her agreement ::

:: wilkens goes to the wall and starts pulling on the rocks but they wont move " ARRRGGGG" with that she starts pulling harder on the rocks but they dont budge at all she stands back staring at the wall ::

" ok let me think about this for a second, there has to be a way thru this "
"back up, girl! ::kal pulls her wand out and points at the rocks :: a bright flash of light, and a small hole is exposed in the tumble of rocks :: try that "
:: wilkens stands there and looks at kal with respect and says " wow" ::
" ok my sword please "
" i did learn a thing or two before i was forced from the Lodge :: hands sword to Wilkens ::
" thank you, ok you two stay on this side"
:: kal and renee both nod and move to wall as wilkens crawls thru the hole. once on the other side she sees merri standing over sly ::

" :: silently :: merri ....no... i dont unders....."
" MERRI, take your hands off her"
" and who is going to stop me"
" i am " :: as wilkens stands ready for a fight ::
::: remember dont kill her, find the stone at the base of the wall :::
" :: laughs :: you, you are a weakling, i can smash you into bits before you could swing that useless weapon of yours"
" i am not a weakling, you took what was most precious to me and i have grown from that. "

::Renee, anxious to see what is happening, tries to run to the hole in the wall but is held back by Kalysta:: "I dont think you want to go in there..." ::

" bah, you are still a child, you have no power. for i feel feadin here, he will assist me "
" merri, are you so sure of that, feadin is dead, you know that "
" yes, he loves me, he will help me, and no hes not dead, for if this ones true love is still alive yet not then feadin is the same with her death i will bring feadin to me"
:: kal whispers :: "she's insane... " "i will tell you her sad story later" ::

" you will not be killing her, you have killed enough "
::: sly, can you hear me, i see the stone you spoke of but i cant get at it with merri talking to me please help me :::
" .........Merri.....he....can't.....have....my.....body......."
::wilkens backs up not taking her eyes off her sister. she bumps into the wall of rocks::
" ......I have....fought it before.....I ...fight....it....again...."
" what are you talking about, you are not making any sense, you must have the head sickness. thats ok, i dont need you to have a sound mind, for that was the mistake i made with the others. for the undead have no minds "
:: with merri distracted wilkens looks down on the ground and sees she isnt close enough to the stone yet. she slowly walks over to it and reaches down and picks it up. ::
::: thank you sly, dont give up we are almost done, just one more thing, i have the stone what do i do now :::
::: once she is dying you say this word HONDURKANASUSLONE only when she is clo....:::
::: only when she is what sly, please tell me. i cant do this alone :::
::: ........ :::
:: merri picks sly up and looks into her face :: " are you almost dead, you cant die yet, i have something to say to you before you die. your true love, the one you sent me to look for. i never did look, for he is already dead. i just needed you to trust me. it is your kind that makes undead, with your death i will bring back feadin. "
" ....then kill me...please just kill me..."
" not yet i wont, not untill i get everything together"
:: while merri and sly are talking to each other wilkens is slowly and quietly walking up behind merri ::
:: sly breathing has slowed almost to a stop ::
" NO dont die yet, im not prepared"
:: wilkens is now standing behind merri and she thrusts her sword into merris back. merri drops sly as she falls to the ground ::
"HONDURKANASUSLONE" :: nothing happens ::
" MOTHER GET IN HERE SLY NEEDS YOU "
" IM COMING " :: and in runs renee with kal following ::
:: renee heads straight to sly and starts her healing. kal stands by the wall and watches with tears running down her face::
" mother, help me, im dying "
" i am no longer your mother, you made sure of that the day you attacked your sister"
" mother, please forgive me"
" no, you harmed your sister, for what reason? for getting you out of that cell your father put you into?"
" sly, come on girl wake up "
" :: faintly :: mother "
"HONDURKANASUSLONE"
:: a wind starts moving around the room ruffling clothing and a mist appears above merri. the mist starts to swirl and heads straight to the stone that is in wilkens hand. as it does the stone goes from red to black and when its completely black the wind dies down and the mist disappears. wilkens stands there staring at the now black stone ::

" come on sly answer me"
::: renee let me die please :::
" what, after me coming all this way i hardly doubt that "
" cassie come help me :: no answer from wilkens :: CASSIE "
" oh, what, ok "
:: wilkens goes to sly and her mother ::
" sly, please let us help you "
:: sly takes one huge breath and exhales and then stops breathing all together ::
" come on sly, breath, i know you can, you cant give up on me now :: wilkens starts to cry :: we arent done yet, dont give up. dont desert me now, we have lots to finish. "

:: sly lays there motionless. kal is in the corner crying. ::

" DAM YOU GIRL, WAKE UP "
" yelling at her wont help cassie"
" mother, can you do that special spell, please save her"
" yes i can try, but i cant promise anything "
" please try, anything, just dont let her die "
" ok, stand back "

:: renee kneels beside slys still body and a bright light appears around her. she reaches over and puts her hands on sly and the light surrounds her. the light gets brighter to the point that wilkens has to turn away, she then hears sly gasp for breath and the light fades. when she looks back at sly and her mother, sly is breathing and crying, and her mother is slumped beside her. she walks up to her mother and grabs the cloak lying beside her and puts it over her mother ::

" sly "
"sly "
"...no..."
" sly, listen to me"
" please....let ...me...die"
" sly, listen to me first, then you can decide "
" NO, THERE IS NO REASON FOR ME ANYMORE"
" yes there is, just think about it for a minute. what was merri up to, what was she looking for. she hunted undead right? "
" right?"
" I DONT KNOW, I DONT CARE ANY MORE, HAVENT I GIVEN ENOUGH :: reaches for wilkens sword :: "
" LISTEN TO ME YOU STUPID GIRL "
"........."
" she was looking for undead, but she didnt look for bornus, think about it"

" if he was dead she would have looked for him"
" ..... :: continues to cry :: "
" she knew that was the one thing that you would believe from her, for it is something that you fear,
she knew that didnt she"

" you told her you feared he was dead"

:: sly Bursts out crying again::
"i know about that kind tired, you can survive it. we can find and save him, but i cant do it without you"

"yes we can"
"....are you sure......"
"with your visions, and the ability to talk to me in my head. yes, i know we can"
".....Bornus.....for so long I have looked for him.....for so so long.....
"but you didnt have a strong warrior at your side"

"or a a friend standing at your side"

".....nothing....neither of us have asked for nothing"

:: wilkens goes over to sly and puts her arms around her. Slyfoot grabs Wilkens and bawls into her shoulder ::

"cry it out, mother always told me that its good to cry"
"......it isn't fair.....why did he do that to me.....the selfish scum!......why....."
:: renee comes up to the two girls" sly, will you please do us the honor of coming to our home for awhile"
:: Slyfoot is glupping at the air, crying uncontrollably ::
"if you keep that up my child you are going to get the hiccups"
":: Slows to sobs ::.....yes....yes I need a place to stay....."
"then come to our home, we have the room"
"....though it is no honor......to have a Kinslayer in your house"
"it is to me, i care not of your past"
"....are you ok?"

"cassie is different now, she cares about others other than that ugly bird and me"

(Yes, this was an awsome SL, all three of us had a blast doing it. Even though it was completely through IM's it was great. We were in a chat room, and I had separate IM windows going to both Wilken's and Kal. I was sending them separate message's via "Telepathy" and then talking in the chat window. It worked out quite nicely! Awsome job guys.)

As the others slept, Slyfoot awoke in the night. She crawled out from under the cloak and sat by the fire. She produced a small piece of partchment and ink, and began to write:

Bornus, Will I ever see you again?

She walked to the edge of the cave, and watched as the wind took the letter to flight, soft tears smearing accros her face as the wind rubbed against her cheeks.

What she has found is two sheets of paper, one has a list of healers and the other is a note in some sort of language, which is all gibberish to her. She remembers that sly can translate most languages ::

( just a quick note here, this is a conversation that is done in the mind talk that sly has learned, what I have done is left it as if we were talking in person but with sly’s talking in mind with the row of ::: I hope it makes it clear)

(yes maybe if Zug was a little smarter, I think his intelligence is somewhere between a mushroom and a cactus, he would take the 'abuse me' sign off his back. Well the honest truth is there is another mastery I could buy that could reduce his intelligence to 10...and yet another if I went Juggernaut that would reduce it to -10...it's amazing Ogre's know how to use such complicated devices as...zippers)
