As the young delf woke, she looked around her at the room she had been placed in by Sly. The walls were the color of dried clay, and their were many other beds in the room, although none held any occupants.
"Where am I?" Kalysta wondered to herself.
As if answering her question, a young mercenary entered the room, took one look at the now awake and obviously uncomfortable young girl, and ran out again.
"Odd folk in these parts..." Kalysta whispered under her breath, wincing in pain more than once as she attempted to shift on the small cot.
A moment later, the young mercenary returned with an older woman.
"My name is Renee Wilks, and this,"
::::motions to the mercenary standing next to the bed:::
"is Wilkens, you have been brought here by... :::casually looks around room::: a friend."
"Yes, Sly brought me from Neriak... but where is here, exactly?" Kalysta whispered
"To begin, dont mention that name here. We never know who may be about, if you catch my meaning. You, my child, are in Freeport. Last refuge of wicked and good alike, and center of tourism and commerce in Tunaria. All manner of things are bought, sold, and traded here. Now lie back, and tell me- who did this to you? You look as though you have been hit by and elephant."
As fresh tears rolled down her cheeks, Kalysta relived the tale of how she had come to be here and in this state. Her words slowed a few times to nothing more than sniffles and coughing, but she managed to spit out the whole tale. Renee's eyes widened with the horror of what she spoke, and when it appeared she had finished, Renee spoke gently,
"So you say your father ordered this done to you?" she asked, as if unable to comprehend a parent hurting their child so. "Surely, you didnt do anything to deserve a beating of this severity... but no matter now, whats done is done. I am a healer after all, and that is why I am here... now, child tell me where it hurts."
Kalysta motions to her stomach and legs, where mere hours before the vile troll had repeatedly beat her into a submissive state. As if hesitating, she motioned slightly to her lower regions, and as if understanding all to well what had happened to the poor thing, Renee asked Wilkens to leave the room and get some boiling water.
"I'll need you to remove your robe, my dear... carefully now, I can see you are quite injured - but thank the gods its not fatal. Now this may sting a bit ::::places a warm cloth soaked in some mysterious red liquid on Kalysta's wounds, the difference is noteable as she examines the bruises:::: but it's to be expected, child, there cannot be healing where no pain exists. as for the, ahem, lower regions... ::::notices Wilkens standing in the doorway::: fetch me-"
"I know, some more hot water.... but mother, what happened to her?!? She lookd like she was on the wrong side of something big..." Wilkens said, innocently
"None of your concern, Wilkens, just fetch me the water."
And with Wilkens gone, Renee was free to examine Kalysta.
"Thankfully the damage isnt to bad, it will take some time to heal, but Im far more concerned about your emotional state... you may dress now, child." she said, handing Kaly the long black robe from the chair next to her.
"Now, I can give you something for what physical pain lingers. Would you wish to sleep child, or remain awake?"
With this, Kalysta's eyes grew wide with a visable fear, and she stammered, half whispering "....Am I safe here, Mrs. Wilks? I mean... once father knows I am gone...."
"Shush my dear, you will be quite safe with Wilkens here to watch you. Now, do you wish to sleep?"
"Yes please"
"Then drink this, and rest... you've had a long night"
As Kaly sipped at the warm liquid, she smelt the most beautiful flowers, and tasted a rich honey like flavor. She hadnt made it though nearly half the cup when she drifted off to sleep.
::::Mumbling in her sleep, completely unaware of the wizard lurking under an invisibility guise nearby::: "thank you.... Sly, a true frien-"
(This is where either Wilkens of Jwiz should pick it up ....Happy writing guys, and ty so much for helping me play it out! Oh, and if you all need me to change or adapt anything let me know)
