(As taken from Kyrinn and Mnemosys' Tower of Lore)
Big, ugly, and stupid, but don't let them hear you say that last part. Ogres are barbaric to the extreme and are known to smash anything, even other humanoids and eat it. They have been known to eat other things as well that most would shudder to think of putting in their mouth. But this wasn't always true, at one time they were fierce and cunning warriors, the children of the Warlord Rallos Zek. They enslaved their cousins, the Orcs, who were a bit more intelligent but too broken to stand against the united Ogres. They also worked along side Rallos Zek's third race, the Giants, who had existed long before the Ogres had. The Ogres continued to conquer lands until all of Tunaria. They grew in strength and intelligence and were even capable of casting spells. Their Empire was large and unmatched. However they grew tired of Norrath and when they learned of the other planes they decided to conquer them as well. Rallos Zek was thrilled when his creations challenged the gods of the Plane of Earth and they managed to take, even hold the plane for a while. However they couldn't keep it up and eventually they were driven back by the gods. For their arrogance the Ogres, and the Giants and the Orcs by association, were stripped of their intelligence and magic. Their empire was destroyed and has never recovered. To this day they've never regained the arts of magic and live in the ruins of civilization.
Ogres are incredibly massive beings. With an average height of approximately 10' and weight well over four hundred pounds, they are truly immovable objects. Due to their size, they are the strongest of all the races and are tied with trolls in pure stamina. Conversely, they are the least intelligent race, whose lives consist mostly of smashing things and eating them. An ogre's strength is its strength. With the ability to use heavy weapons, ogres become either warriors or shadowknights. Whether they truly understand their vocations, the smarter races have not yet decided. But, thanks to the mystery of evolution, an ogre is sometimes born with a bit more smarts, and may decide--or fall into by mistake--the profession of shaman.
