What happened to everyone? I was cruising through the archives of the tavern and I realized the posting community has dwindled in numbers as of late. I mean even the general ooc board has become eerily quiet, it is depressing in a way. When I first joined the posts in ooc multiplied faster than could be kept up with now.....silence.... Just a obvious observation by your friendly neighborhood Phelan.

Things come and go in waves...though in game we have as solid a base as we have had...lol, none of us have been big recruiters, not our style, so growth has bene limited. People like you have quit playing so...

I've been working at a client site with a very restrictive email policy (no game-related sites), and I rarely check the computer after work, so that explains my drop in posting It's true though, I see signs of the game fading. We have fun when we're on, and I feel close to accomplishing what I wanted with Nobel. It sure is great not competing with people for the 50+ quest mobs, although it does show you that people are moving on. It's just the ebb and flow, I guess. All good things...

People like you have quit playing so... lol, I hardly ever got to play when I did have my account active. EQ for the comp isn't much better, I just have too much going on to get online anymore. I still love writing though.

Aye, I have too much to do and too little time. what time I do have for games usually goes to World of Warcraft as I have in-game responsabilities there. I do try to keep up on what's happening as much as possible tho'!
Write away ol Phel'

It really isn't so mysterious when you think about it. People get active when they have time on their hands so we get to know them when they don't have anything else going on. Then life steps in and makes it difficult for awhile. You add in the fact that the game is starting to die and people just sort of wander away. It isn't even really a concious decision with most people. I need to buy a new memory card before I'll be back online but I've really been too busy to make a special trip just for a memory card. I'll be more regular once I get my work caught up (the workload still increases at a greater rate than what I can get done) but I'm starting to worry that by then the game will have died completely.
Let me know if anyone makes a MMORPG that plays like MUD. I'll be all over that.

You can always count on Kyrinn to have the saltiest attitude around You can look at the bright side of things here too. Other than the folks who use this game as an ego booster, the smaller population also means that their is a better chance to battle rare spawns, such as sunday when we killed Siliskor, woulda kill Toxxulia (except we all got killed in her lair halfway to her), and then went to kill Kratas. Kyrinn, plays like a mud in what way? Personally, I would love if they made headsets usable for future MMO's.

I know MMORPGs aren't MUDs but some of us like to think that they could be. The Developers were more of a part of the game world in most of the MUDs I played, Usualy heading a Guild (with guild powers and guild specific areas) and participating in the roleplaying. Events like Invasions and quests were more common and they werent afraid to have a "kill everybody" day where the gloves came off for a little while. Hell I prefered when the gloves just came of and stayed off. I'm not a big player killer (contrary to popular belief) but I always liked having to keep aware of people that might want to kill me. I liked the enforced roleplaying - in that environment I find that players do most of the policing and the developers rarely need be involved.
I'm not so stupid that I think that anybody is about to run a game like that for profit. But it's possible, and I'm not ready to stop hoping that someday someone might.

It is my understanding that in Matrix Online, the characters in thegame that were in the movies (sorry my space bar gets stuck) are all played by devs in game to keep things stirring. Now back to the intent of this thread.
