sorry I was too lazy to look up the old rant thread, but something has been eating me and it has nothing to do with eq or anything but I needed to vent. A little side note, I had already typed this out in an email to a friend and I decided to cut and paste the main substance of it here:
I just want to excite the youth into learning about space. In our day and age space travel seems a dime a dozen and is glanced over as uneventful until a catastrophe happens then everyone says wow that sucked. Hardly anyone cares that the US hasn't sent a manned mission to space in 3 years, I don't think there has been a reprive this long from space since we started sending people up. If it hadn't been for my teachers in elementary school and then again breifly in middle school I wouldn't be interested in space either. I
know some people are predisposed to being fascinated by one thing but not another, but alot of that has to do with exposure to things also.
Amazing things happen in discovering stuff in space everyday and most ppl could care less. Dreamers have designs laying around for moon bases, commercial space flight, mining operations, mars missions, space stations that would make space accessible to everyone, but there is little public intrest because no one has vision, they don't see it as a reality. They havent' been inspired, inspired in being human, being curious, wanting to pioneer.... I just find it sad. If the public were once again inspired like the fever this country was
caught up in during the early space program, you and I could be on mars.
But since the only ppl going to space refuse to be visionary and take chances as they once did, no one is inspired. I must say watching 7 scientist go up in a tin can and float around earth is rather uninspiring. K I am done with my rant, in conclusion I think it just takes a few people to inspire our youth to better our society as a whole.
