Every now and then, you can hear it. Every now and then, you see their spirit. Children in broken homes. Children given broken bones.
Every now and then, they cry. But everyone just closes their eyes. The plee for help, they cry in pain. Yet mostly their cries are made in vien.
Every now and then, somone listens. And within them a little hope glistens. Every now and then, they hear the plees. And they choose to help instead of flee.
Every now and then, you hear their mournful sound. Tears of kids in pain as they coldly hit the ground. Every now and then, you see them in a room. But more often, their names are carved on tombs.
You see them beaten, hurt, and killed. And only once in a while is justice fulfilled. Children have been beaten and torn. Punished for the crime of being born.
So instead of turning your back and closing your eyes. Open your ears and listen to their cries. Make sure that justice is given to them. Help them live..every now and then.
I wrote this tonight after hearing a story of a couple who had adopted 7 children from ages 6months to 16. The couple had beaten the kids with hammers, ripped out their nails with plyers, and the 16yr old only weighed 65lbs. This is for the children that are beaten by the people who have the nerve to call themselves parents. I know it's dark..but I'm in a dark mood.

I do not understand how anyone can have that level of cruelty in them. I can understand abusive parents, to an extent. But to do some of the things you have described, (to innocent children no less!!) it astounds me. I cannot express in words how upset things of this nature make me.
Sad thing is that things like this happen every day, and most of the time people turn a blind eye to it.
Societies are often judged by how we treat our most helpless members. What does this say about us?
On another note, your poem was very well written Ahamae. I have always enjoyed your work.
