Back to the old school Pen and Paper RPG! I was wondering what PnP RPG's everyone had played? What were your favorites? What did you like about it? What did you dislike about it? What do you think could be done to make it better?

LOL!
The games I have played are Legion!
D&D Travellers Star Frontiers Villains and Vigilantes Cyberpunk Star Trek Marvel Super Heroes Top Secret Gamma Worlds Champions...
We have all the core books for EQ RPG but have never played
Let's see
Marvel Superheroes...I liked their rating system with things such as Class 1000 ratings for the "Uber" such as the Hulk's srtrength (when enraged) or Magneto's magnetic control ( I think their definition was class 1000 represents being able to destroy a planet)'
I liked Star Frontiers for it's simplicity and self contained missions. you could have a scenario ala the beginning of Star Wars IV where you would play out the star battle and the onboard battle in an hour and a half or so...so you could accomplish alot quickly.
Travellers I liked for it's adaptability.
D&D I bought in 1981 when I was 11 and have given up on learning all the new editions after editions...give me the DM's guide with the crappy art of the Efreet on the cover any day!!! So I guess what I don't like is that I have bought three editions of the AD&D books and 2 of the basic sets (lol I liked that they used ta give ya a crayon to mark the dice pips). Oh yea I like having polyhedron...I fought for three years with one of my roomates about a 12 sided die...that eventually rolled a 1 in a crucial situation...we bonded as we eventually threw it in the barbecue!

LMAO Good Zug, that's what I was looking for!
I agree about the 'too many additional of D&D' Zug, but I picked up 3rd about 5 years ago and updated to 3.5 not too long agao and I have to say, I like it! I like it better than previous editions released, though I still try to implement some of the 'old school' AD&D stuff, much to my PC's dismay...
Wow Zug, you got alot or experience there... never even heard of some of those...
I'm interested in knowing what you thought about Cyberpunk. A good GM can make all the difference in that game (as with any game) and we had kind of a crappy one. (Similar situation to rolling a 1 in a crucial secenario, story matters more than rules, ect)

okie, now that ive thought bout it, these are the PnP rpg that ive played:
D&D - always had fun playing this, the gm was really good, unfortunately we always had a twit that made things difficult.
Shadowrun - made a char, tried to play a session, but got bored of it really fast.
Vampires - The Masquarade - made a char, got her killed the first night, didnt like the gm much tho. i prefer playing this one live action.

im not a hundred percent for sure, all i know is that it wasnt very fun for me. i tried to get the understanding of the game before i started playing it but it never made much sense.
with d&d i could understand how the char played, with vampires, it was easy because i played it in live action before i played it on paper.
it could have been that the person running the shadowrun game was my ex we never could make ourselves clear enough. after awhile i just gave up on trying to understand and told him to go ahead and run a game, i would stay out of the game and let him have his fun.
