"Where are those two...... Zealott is suppose to have attended her classes." Nikkii said as she paced in the library.
"So she missed a class no need to get so upset, she is ahead of the others in that class anyway....." The voice was barely above whisper.
" That is only because she has you an myself overseeing her studies...."Nikkii said still pacing.
"Is that the only reason your in here? I have my own studies to do an prepare for the next counsil meeting." The voice replied.
Nikkii sighed an muttered to herself. "I can't believe I'm playing along with this." She locked the doors an went over to the source or the voice. "Naldany I have a question for you."
Naldany looked back at the door that Nikkii locked an over to her aunt. "Well this better not be something about finding a new husband again.... He will die just like the other one you sent."
Nikkii kneeled over an clasped Naldnay's hands together. "Sweety... what if he was alive an well?"
Naldany looked at Nikkii very odd an attempted to pull away from her.
"Why are you asking me suck nonsense we saw him perish.... now please be silent about him." Naldany said.
"Well if he was here by some miracle of nature an within the wall of this house?" Nikkii lead her on.
"I... enough of this." Naldany stood up an unlocked the door. "I think dinner is almost ready aunt..... I will see you there perhaps."
Nikkii smirked at the thought that she harbor an ill fate for Phelan still an left out behind her.
Aramis sat in the courtyard swinging one of Phelan's swords. His frustration was apparent as his swings was sloppy an his timing off. He saw Phelan comming craddling his sister an this brought only more anger to him.
"Hey you put that spoild brat down.... You got lucky the first time but you wont be this time. Your just lucky my aunt stopped me... I'll blast you!!" He said trembling

Phelan calmly woke up Zealott and placed her on the ground. He motioned her to the door. Phelan fixed Aramis with a even look.
"Boy, I didn't get lucky... You have much to learn." Phelan said quietly.
"Yeah right." Aramis sneared as he spun his blades to stirke.
The extra flair the boy put into his attack gave Phelan the chance he needed. Phelan hit the boy with a sweep kick that sent Aramis tumbling to the ground. Aramis stood shaking with rage, he started to chant and his hands glowed and flashed with a brilliant blue light that leaped at Phelan. Phelan darted to the side as the blinding light rushed at him.
Aramis' widened his eyes in shock as his father strode forward unscathed out of the smoking rubble. Aramis had dropped his blades and Phelan flipped one up with his foot and caught it, followed closely by the second one. Aramis launched another lighting bolt at him in rage, again Phelan side stepped and batted it aside with his swords.
Phelan sheathed his blades so fast that Aramis wasn't sure he saw it happen. The next thing he knew Phelan was again holding him by the wrists. Phelan tossed him to the ground again.
"When you want to learn how to use swords, instead of play act at it, you let me know." Phelan said.
With that Phelan turned his back and walked into the church.

"Why.... why can't I defeat you....?" Aramis spoke with a shakey voice. "You have no magic.... an was at my mercy.... why?" He started trying to bury his emotions like Nikkii more than likely taught him to do so. "Don't you turn your back on me..."
His eyes was fixed on Phelan's back. Phelan didn't turn around he just held his place as the boy ranted.
"Great aunt Nikkii said you had skill but I am stronger than you ever could be... how can I lose to you. Darlena I have herd is nearly without equal when she goes all out..... one day I plan on seeing her true ability an defeating her." Aramis had started to regain his composer as he got to his feet.
" You lack heart boy..." Phelan said as he went inside.
"Then since she is scared to take my skills further be like a true father an teach me what she would not.... " Aramis lowered his voice thinking Phelan wouldn't here what he was about to say. "Once you do I'll try it out on that old tavern fool an you."
Dinner was being set on the tables as always Nikkii an Naldany had already taken their seats an awaited the others to do the same. Olantar took account of his gaurdsmen an saw to them rotating for food an rest.

Phelan was dissapointed in the boy, his heart had been corrupted by Nikkii. Phelan had this problem with his sister, but this situation was different. He was a stranger, an outsider here. 'There may be no saving the boy' he thought grimly as he walked toward the dining area.
He had never listened to Nikkii in the past and he certainly wouldn't now. If Naldany would stirke him down, so be it and he would go back to the pleasant slumber of death. That fuzzy place where time has no meaning and no worries intrude. Phelan remembered little of death now almost as if he traded his memory of death for his memories of life.
The double doors were shut and he could hear voices on the other side mumbling in coversations. The guards looked at him and shrugged as he pushed open the two huge double doors that led to the dining hall. His eyes met Naldany's and held there.
'moment of truth' he thought.
Everything seemed to move around him, but time stopped for him locked in that gaze with Naldany. His heart lept with joy and then crashed with sorrow as the pain in her eyes registered. He wanted to rush to her and huge her. To sweep her away from the room and just talk to her.
The moment lasted only a few seconds, but it seemed like hours to Phelan. Silence like death fell over the room and faces looked from Phelan to Naldany and back again. The only sound that was audible was Nikkii dropping her silverware when she saw who had entered.

Naldany's eyes grew big an her mouth dropped open. Nikkii closed her eyes an shook her head. Olantar likewise stood in disbelief at the site of Phelan, Zealott was the first to make a move grabbing Phelan's hand an guiding him to a seat next to her. Tailu came in next an sat to the other side of Zealott, soon after Darlena. Naldany still had yet to take her eyes off Phelan till Darlena placed a hand on her.
"What is the meaning of this..... Is this some sick joke at my expense?" Naldany said filled with anger.
"No listen cousin, this is no fake.... but I'm not certain how his is so." Darlena said calming her. Naldany saw Phelan still looking at her an she became angry once more.
"Don't look at me! Your some kinda imposter like those sent here years ago. If I cut you you wouldn't bleed would you?"
Zealott was taken back by what she was hear an was becomming uneasy as she watched her father lift his arm in her direction. Aramis had now made his way in an took a seat next to Nikkii. Naldany looked to her son an daughter then back to Phelan.
"I need some air..... Olantar please escort me outside, everyone please continue your meals." Naldany left out with Olantar close behind an several guards. Zealott tugged on Phelan's shirttrying to get his attention.
"She was happy..... I felt something change in mommy. I think you should talk to her so we can be happy an Aramis won't be so angry with me."

Phelan grabbed a handfull of fruit and headed out the door after Olantar and Naldany. Aramis tried to trip him by sticking out his feet as Phelan walked by, Phelan mearly smiled at him and hopped over them gracefully.
Phelan ran his hand through his hair as he walked out the door. It stunned him to think at how much he loved her, since he had been forced to marry her. It hurt him to see how much she was in pain, at how much she resented him. 'How am I ever going to explain this to her? I'm not sure what happened myself... I've got to try.' Phelan thought.
He saw the guards standing next to the doors that led out to a large balcony. Phelan began walking for the doors, they snapped to attention and the one on the right sneered at him.
"Sorry, you're not allowed in here peasant! Be gone!"
"Well... I am sorry to hear that. You see there is a problem with that, you are standing between me and my wife and well if I have to show who I am with my swords I will, but you will not stay in my way for long either way." Phelan said flashing a smile.
"You will not pass." The guard said again firmly.
"Very well, the easy way then." Phelan said inclining his head in a small bow.
There was about ten paces between him and the door. Phelan started into a light run straight for the door. The guards moved to defend the door. Phelan sprinted forward, perfectly balanced over the balls of his feet. The guards drew back with their swords to strike as Phelan came into range.
Steel flashed as Phelan's swords flew from their sheaths in the flash of an eye. He parried both blows easily. He spun past the two guards who were still reeling from the shock of the parry's, as he completed the spin he caught both guards in the back of the head with the flats of his swords. Both guards fell the floor dazed. Phelan opened the door only to find two more guards facing him.
Past the two guards were Olantar and Naldany. Olantar turned and placed Naldany behind him. He drew his swords.
"Olantar, is this nessecary? I mean I did allow you to have the position that you are in, I appointed you myself. Now are you really going to stand between me talking to my wife?" Phelan asked, his hurt slipping into his voice.
"Do not speak to me as if you know me sir. You may look like him, but I know he fell.... You IMPOSTER!" Olantar said, his face contorting with anger.
"So be it then. I will speak to my wife, if that means that I shall have to spill your blood to do so then so it will be, but make no mistake it doesn't bring joy to my heart." Phelan said in a grave voice. "Naldany, won't you tell them to stand down? Won't you even hear me out? Won't you..." Phelan was cut off as the guards rushed him.
They were novices at best, even Aramis could have cut them down he thought. Phelan parried their attacks easily, he only pushed a bit to keep them on the defensive. He wouldn't harm them permanantly.
The guard to his left lashed out. Phelan blocked and slid the sword down the length of the blade. The guard reacted and tried to push the blade outwards, Phelan went with the motion and continued to spin it under and back around. He dipped the tip of his blade and it sliced into the guards right hand causing him to drop his sword and cry out in pain.
"Ahh, yes, you should learn to guard your hands. Olantar, who have you been having train this group, they are far from battle ready." Phelan called over his shoulder to where Olantar stood, Phelan had been keeping and eye on him in his blades everytime that there were eye level.
Phelan scooped up the sword with his swords and began juggling it in the air between the two swords. He advanced on the second guard, he glanced nervously to Olantar and then back to Phelan.
"Oh yes, I am afraid I could disable you just as easily... I would prefer not to, but the choice is yours." Phelan said his face still dead serious.
The guard sneered and rushed in. Phelan launched the juggling sword high into the air. He Spun out of the way of the attack coming around behind the attacker. The sword came back down and Phelan launched it back up again. The guards eyes tracked the sword for mere seconds before coming back to where Phelan was, however those were precisous seconds. Phelan made his move and about a dozen angery red lines appeared where ever the guards skin was bared. The guard wilted in pain. Phelan caught the swords as it came back down and it was gracefully floating from sword to sword now. Phelan causually scooped up the second guards sword and was now juggling two swords back and forth between his swords.
Guards were coming in beind him, but didn't move to strike him. They had all seen how easily Phelan had dispatched their fellow guards. Phelan paid them no mind.
"Naldany please... for you I will cut them all down, every last one, if that is what it takes, but I will not stop until I speak with you or I die... please." Phelan said now barely above a whisper. Tears fell from his eyes and ran down his cheeks.

"Olantar call them off.... please I do not wish them harm." Naldany said keeping her back turned.
"My'lady are you sure?" Olantar questioned.
Naldany nodded without making eye contact an crossed her arms. Olantar motioned for the guards to back down an they did so.
"See to any wounded and have them return to the house."
"If it is alright with you I will stay nearby to keep watch over you." Olantar stated as he found a place to sit.
Now Phelan had his chance to speak with her, but she refused to turn an look at him.
"How can I believe this is really you? This is something that has been used against us before...... this time I suffer. I believed in you an that you would have always been there for me. You got me to believe in myself an not let others influence me...." Phelan walked slowly closer to Naldany an attempted to touch her. Naldany jerked from him an her sobbing could be hear slightly.
"You made me hate you..... I wanted you to return so I could kill you..... It was too much for me, Aramis thought it was my fault you died an he rebelled against me. I couldn't bring myself to harm him because he looks so much like you... and in turn he just sank into darkness. I barely cared for Zealott when she was born I thought of my own death for a few years....."
Phelan reached for her again, an again she moved from him. "Why don't you tell me why your here?"

"That's just it, I don't know why I am here. I emerged for the realm of the dead here, just outside of Neriak. I just knew that I had to come see if there was anything left for me here. I still don't know how many years it has been, time means little in the afterlife.
I'm sorry that I died, but I died doing what was right. I loved you more than life and I still do. I can't imagine your grief. I had hoped that you would carry on without me, seeing that I did what had to be done. I'm sorry that I had to go before you were ready to stand on your own. Maybe I am here for a second chance. Maybe I am here to save you..." he let that hang in the air for a moment.
He gently placed his hand on her shoulder and slowly guided her to turn around. It was all he could do not to sweep her into his arms and carry her away from this place.
"... You're so beautifull. I wish you could see what I see when I look at you. Nothing could keep me from you, not even death apperantly." Phelan said in a whisper as he caressed her cheek.
Tears still fell from his eyes as he spoke. His eyes were so dim that the red glow was almost non existent, letting the azure blue shine through.

"Take me back inside.... Phelan how long will you be this time?" Before he could speak she placed a finger to his lips an walked by. At the entrance stood Olantar along with Zealott holding his hand. Naldany kissed her on the cheek an went on back, Zealott smiled at Phelan.
"If your not an imposter then.... I am greatful to see your return. "Olantar said rendering a slight bow.
Nikkii finished her meal first an sat looking a bit frustrated at what took place. "Darlena, I thought I made it clear to keep him from her."
Aramis couldn't wait to interrupt. "Why don't you just kill him?...." Silence took over the room.
"Aramis you will go right to your chambers... I will be with you shortly." Nikkii sneared.
The boy pushed off the table an stormed right out of the dinning hall. He went down to the bed chambers an stopped infront of his.

Phelan stood on the balcony for a long while looking out over the courtyard. He gazed out over what had once been his home. He did really know what he expected to happen. He had hoped that she would feel the same as he did.
It had went far better than it could have though. Phelan was still drawing breath, so it had went better than Nikkii had expected. He chuckled, Nikkii never really did understand Naldany. Nor did she ever give Phelan the respect she should have. Perhaps if she had seen who he really was she wouldn't underestimate him so much.
Phelan walked slowly back to the dining room. He entered quietly and sat down next to Nikkii where Aramis had been sitting. He inclined his head and said hello so as not to be rude, but his attention was on Naldany. He watched her and longed to know what she was thinking.
"Do I have quaters? Or will it be back to the cell for the evening?" Phelan asked Nikkii very quietly so that only she could hear him.

Nikkii rolled her eyes at the comment he made before she replied. "You must be the real thing, you still know what to say to upset me.... I don't think a cell is necessary anymore.." Then a twisted smile came on her face. "I know... you can sleep in Aramis's chambers.... I mean I just sent him to there for a comment he made about taking your life. Maybe, I night within the same confines would do him good."
Naldany looked at Phelan to see his reaction to the idea, an went on eating.
"Well I will be need Aramis in the morning... he has work to do with me." Darlena said as she began to leave. "I will be taking him the the green rift with me."
"Yes the upper house needs the scrolls they asked us to prepare for them." Naldany agreed.
"Don't worry Phelan I won't keep him to long this is more of a lesson of responsibilty, should be no danger on such a short trip." Darlena explained.
"Well humans have been sticking their noses into our territory alot as of late an the annoying halflings." Nikkii said sipping her wine. "Well Phelan, lets go to your chambers for this night."

"Very well. I think I might enjoy a night with the boy, he reminds me much of you Nikkii." Phelan said getting to his feet. "and it is always such a pleasure spending time with you."
Phelan wondered again what he could say to the boy to set him straight. He decided that he would cross that bridge when he got to it. Untill then he would make the best of today and what was left of tonight.
"Naldany." Phelan said queitly, a look of pain crossed his face as he met her eyes. He turned and followed Nikkii towards the quaters of Aramis.

Naldany waved to him as the two left out.
"Let's get one thing straight Phelan, I still dont like you. But I won't give you more of a hard time, because your son will be seeing to that." Nikkii commented almost gloating.
"I bet... " Phelan said putting up a smile to irritate Nikkii even more.
Soon after they was at the bed chambers and Aramis was sitting on the floor infront of his room, he was pouting something Nikkii was use to seeing.
"On your feet young man you have a room guest tonight. Nikkii opened the door for the two men, but stopped Aramis short. "Listen to me you will start to show me more respect here... Now before I decide to charge you for the costs of damages you've done to several places of bussiness, you will have a peaceful night this evening. Try to learn where he came from for me.. an if you do I'll take care of the money you owe me."
"Very well ..... I'll do it." Aramis said as he followed his father into the room.
Nikkii closed the door an left them to themselves. Phelan stood there looking at the boys surroundings. Aramis flopped down on his bed an looked up at the ceiling. "You can stay here but don't expect much from me .... you had your chance."

Phelan looked about the room. There were spell books stacked around the room, they seemed to have been read hundreds of times.
"Don't worry, I don't expect to be staying here long. I'm still married to your mother and I'm still part of this house whether your grandmother likes it or not." Aramis made to speak, but Phelan held up a hand and to his suprise the boy stayed silent. "It's interesting how nothing changes around here. Lylith is deposed and then Nikkii rise up just like her. The wretched Grandfather is done away with and his great grandson appears to end up just like him.
I'm not going to lie to you Aramis, I'm not like most Tier'Dal. In fact I am nothing like most of them. If you haven't noticed Darlena isn't either. It seems to me that you have learned the more vial habits of our race rather than trying to think for yourself. " The boy opened his mouth again, but once again Phelan held up his hand.
"I know that you don't care what I have to say, that's fine. But trust me, you will never last long with your attitude. Even the most wicked and arrogant Teir'dal knows when to bend his neck in submission to keep it intact. You are frustrated you can't best me in a fight and that's because as I said before, you lack heart boy.
If you can keep your hide out of trouble, perhaps I will teach you to wield a blade properly. You have talent I'll give you that, but untill you learn to listen, you will never improve." Phelan fell silent.
Phelan sat down on a chair in the corner and closed his eyes and sighed.

Aramis sat looking at him for a minute before he finally got a word in.
"It's too early to sleep, tell me about yourself an Darlena... she interests me how she seems to hide her real self. my grandmother won't speak of it an neither will mother... And I wanna know about Adaun."
A sudden knock at the door an it crept open slowly. Naldany came in an placed a few silk blankets at Phelan's feet. She glanced at Aramis before leaving back out. Phelan herd her voice in his head . ::Give him time ... he is still a decent boy.::
"Father.... will you say something or will this night be spent as is?"
