The silent master carefully approached the home of his master. He dropped down onto the balcony and entered the main room. He found his master in the hall on the floor. He had found his master like this many times before. He never would say what was the cause. The assassin picked up his master took him into his bedroom. He took off his vomit soaked clothes and laid his master down on the bed. Soon Patryas would be back to normal. He saw that Patryas was conscious again so he gave his report on the Seladria child. He then went to make sure the messenger had delivered the letter to Phelan.
After Patryas had cleaned up and felt better he called for his wizard. Lecious came upstairs and confronted his master.
“Yes, master?”
“Conduct an investigation on the newborn in the house O’Seth. Lady Nikki wants to use the child for her own gain. She should know not to come between a Seladria and his child,” Patryas told him and the wizard dismissed himself.
Patryas was still sore from his encounter, he probably looked it too. He decided to go to the well to await Phelan.

Phelan thought about it for a few moments after the man had gone. Phelan decided he would go see who this was. He had no friends in Neriak, not a single one, but someone was claiming him to be. He sheathed his sword and headed for the well in the center of town sticking to the shadows.

Patryas silently waited for Phelan to arrive. He knew that Phelan would be in a dark mood. Perfect. He leaned against the well and watched people go about their daily business. Phelan was the one person who earned his respect. He had kept track of some of Phelan’s exploits in Norrath. He still did not understand his sense of goodness.
He stood with a grim look on his face. He had no idea whether Phelan would recognize him or not. And no idea whether Phelan would trust him.

Phelan slowed as the well came into sight, a lone man was leaning against the well. Phelan didn't recognize the man right away. It took a few moments for the fog of time to clear and his mind to make a connection to an image. No! he thought to himself....Could it be?....Patryas?! Maybe there was still one friend he had in Neriak, he had just been thinking of Patryas the other day.
Phelan was sure it was him by the time he decided to emerge from the shadows. Patryas had white hair like his, red eyes and he even dressed as Phelan normally did in black leather and finery.
"An old friend? Why so crypitc and what happened to coming over and asking if Phelan could come out and play?" Phelan said smiling as he walked up.

Patryas smiled as he heard Phelan’s voice. He turned his head to see his old friend. His smile was wiped away as he saw how similar they were in appearance. They gripped forearms as Phelan walked up.
“My friend. It has been too long. It does me good to see you. The last time I saw you…..nevermind. It does not matter the last time I saw you. It is good to be in the company of friends again,” Patryas said, remembering the day he helped a small Phelan escape the city.
The historians were right. He had forgotten. There was a feeling in the air around a Seladria.

Phelan's smile faded and his face had a somber look to it at the mention of the last time they had seen each other.
"Patyras....I never... I never got to thank you for what you did. You saved my life, I wouldn't be here if it weren't for you.... It brings back memories seeing you." Phelan said with his smile returning.

“No thanks are needed my friend. There are few that you can trust in this city. I am glad I can say there is one I can trust. I had kept track of your exploits after you ran away. I always hoped you would come back to Neriak. I was distressed when I heard the troubles you have been having as of late.”
Patryas sat back and observed his friend. Something caught his eye. It was the silent master. He was trying to get his master’s attention. As they kept talking, Patryas gestured for him and Phelan to walk back to the Fenn’dal house.

Phelan walked with Patryas as they talked. Phelan looked at Patryas in closer detail as they walked. Phelan could see that Patryas was stepping a bit awkward as he walked and that he carried himself as though he were possibly injured. Not very many would have noticed the sublties that gave it way, but Phelan did. Phelan was used to looking for a week spot in defenses and exploiting weakness it came automatically to him now.
"Patryas...are you ok? You look a bit pale. " Phelan said making sure not to wound his pride, but he was truly concered for his friend.

Patryas saw his house come into view.
“I have not been feeling my best lately. By tomorrow, I will be better. I think we had best get indoors. I think something has happened. We shall talk more in the house,” Patryas said as he pointed to his home.

"Nothing serious I hope." Phelan said glancing about. Phelan followed Patryas up the steps and into the house. Phelan was begining to wonder, if something was going on in Neriak, as of late it seemed to do with him.

As Patryas and Phelan walked into the house, they could see the silhouette of the silent master lit by the fireplace. Phelan jumped back a bit. This was the one who helped his wife and son. Patryas silently regarded his assassin.
The silent master hesitated in giving his report. He did not expect the master to bring the Seladria back with him. He chose his words carefully.
“Master, I am sorry to interrupt. But while Lecious was keeping an eye on the O’Seth house, the child went missing. He is currently tracking the baby’s magical emanations through Nektulos forest.”
“Go and help Lecious. Bring the culprit back. Dead or alive,” Patryas barked. “Someone will die for this offense.”
Patryas looked to Phelan.

"My child?" Phelan asked shaking with rage and tears coming to his eyes in fear. Phelan's hands were on the hilts of his swords and he was moving toward the door.
"I am sorry friend, but if this is true I have to go, I will not sit by and do nothing." Phelan said reaching for the door.

Patryas watched Phelan tromp out of his house. This was going to get bloody. Hopefully the silent master would recover the child, or find out who was responsible. He began to silently pray to Innoruuk. “Let my enemies fall beneath my blade like wheat to the sickle.” He smiled to himself. Bloodshed was coming soon. And soon this city would know what true power was.
